Hello, Following are few points that should be considered while recording a macro for its errorless execution. 1) While recording we recommend using more of keyboard short cuts instead of mouse clicks as they are more reliable than mouse moves/clicks irrespective of change in screen resolution or window size. Mouse clicks/moves are subject to work on a screen resolution they were recorded on. However, keystrokes will work as expected no matter whatever screen resolution you set to. For e.g. Up/Down arrow key would work in a reliable way than using mouse to scroll in an excel sheet. 2) While recording after you perform an action, wait for few seconds so that command gets enough time to execute on replay. Insufficient delay can skip any command and hence can mess up the commands. After recording, you can also edit your macro through Tools->Macro Editor to insert Delay command (Available in Workspace Macro Pro 6.5). 3) Using Workspace Macro Pro you can edit mouse clicks to perform activities relative to windows. Please follow the steps given below: . Double click on Mouse Click command. . Click on 'Advanced' button. . From 'Relative To' frame select option 'Window' and save the command. . Perform the above steps for every Mouse Click command in question. . Save the macro and run it. 4) Here is a link to best practices for our macro products, Workspace Macro 4.6 and Workspace Macro Pro 6.5 http://www.tethyssolutions.com/bestpractices.htm Hope that helps! |

i appreciate the response, but i still don't see how it can work flawlessly in the demo and then stop working at all in pro, it can't be that i am moving to fast or that mouse clicks arent being picked up... as for the relative to windows option, maybe that is my problem...is it on a different setting than the demo? |

Hello, No, it is the same as trial version. This issue is strange as we have never heard or seen such type of issue before. However, let us investigate. Could you please upload the macro in question so we can have a look and try reproducing the scenario at our end? It would help us investigate further. |

Hello, Macro errors out while searching for window, ‘Star Wars Galaxies’. May we please know what exactly this macro does? We would suggest try using our advanced macro product Workspace Macro Pro 6.5 which provides you with a powerful tool, Macro Editor using which you can create as well as edit your recorded macros. You can download free version of Workspace Macro Pro 6.5 from our website: http://www.tethyssolutions.com/macro-automation.htm |

For some reason the trial version also worked flawless in the trial version and I have looked for a lot of different macros that would work with this game with this being the only one I found. But once the trial version ran out and I upgraded to the full version and the macros no longer worked for the game. For some reason it would no longer do mouse clicks in the game. It would move the mouse to where it was suppose to be but it wouldn't click anymore. When I try to record it doesn't register the mouse clicks either so when I open up the editor it was as if I never clicked. Not sure why I didn't have this problem in the trial version and now I can't get it to work anymore.

I uninstalled the upgraded version and re-installed the trial and for some reason the trial didn't work this time either. So I'm wondering if the timing was just a coincidence and for some other reason it stopped working with the game. The trial version lets me record and run macros again but anything I recorded in the game doesn't work. It opens up the game but as soon as the game becomes the active window the key strokes and mouse clicks no longer work. I have also tried opening up the macro in the editor and changing the mouse clicks to go off in the active window instead of the game and that did not work either. I'm not sure how it could work so well for 2-3 days and I even ran it over night once and it did wonderful. Now, I can't get one mouse click out of it. I"m using windows 7 64 bit if that helps any.

Hello, This seems to be strange. We have never come across such scenario before. We recommend you to please try recording the macro by waiting for some-time between actions. This will help the system to understand the recording process and the macro when replayed, can work perfectly. Last edited by forumstaff; 12-30-2010 at 03:29 PM. |
