Default Scheduling a macro on a server

Hi - I've scheduled a macro to run on a server. I logged in remotely and set it up, tested it, and verified that when I run it manually, it works great. I scheduled the task through Workspace Macro Pro, and verified that the task appears in the "scheduled tasks" app for Windows 2003 server. From the "scheduled tasks" window, it thinks it ran. From the Workspace Macro Pro window, it does not register that it ran.

I thought it would log me in and run the macro. Do I need to make that part of the macro itself? Or any other ideas?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Hello,

From what I understand your macro resides on the server machine. Am I right?

In that case when the scheduled macro runs, is your server machine locked?

Also there are troubleshooting tips to help you identify the problem why the scheduled macro does not run.

You can find them under Help->Workspace Macro Pro Help->Scheduling Macro->Scheduling Macro Doesn't run.

Question

Yes - there would be no one logged in, and the server would be locked. I thought that because I entered my username and password that it would log me in and run it.

I've been through the help, and I can schedule things just fine in the task scheduler. It's Workspace Macro Pro that doesn't go.

If it is because the computer is locked, what do I do?

The scheduled macros of Workspace Macro Pro can work only if the user is logged on and the machine is unlocked.

If computer is locked & if your macro consists of keystrokes & mouse clicks, Workspace Macro Pro scheduled macros cannot work, as it requires advanced settings and services to unlock the computer that is provided in our advanced automation software, Automation Anywhere 3.5.

If locking the computer is a must have requirement for you then I would recommend you to try Automation Anywhere.

Automation Anywhere has unique Auto Login feature with strong security protection that allows macros to run even if computer is locked. When you enable Auto Login, and any task runs, Automation Anywhere will unlock the computer if it is locked and start executing your task. Once the task completes, it will lock the computer again. This eliminates the need to keep your computer unlocked for task execution.

If you like to try Automation Anywhere, you can download the free trial from
http://www.tethyssolutions.com/automation-software.htm

All your macros created in Workspace Macro Pro 6.5 will work in Automation Anywhere.

Thanks you for the help.

I thought this version did that. That was one of the reasons I bought it.
