Default Vista 64 bit

Have been running WMP on 32 bit vista and have had to migrate to a new PC which is vista 64 bit. WMP will not run on the new PC. When I start WMP it flashes a "loading" message very briefly than nothing. Is it 64 bit or am I missing something?
Thanks Rick

Hello Rick,

Workspace Macro Pro 6.5 is vista compatible. We have successfully tested the software on Vista (both 32 bit and 64 bit).

Can you please check if User Account Control (UAC) has turned on or off on new PC. You can find UAC option under Start->Settings->Control Panel->User Accounts. Click on option, Turn User Account Control on or off, uncheck the check box that says Use UAC to help protect your computer and click on Ok button. Now, try to open the software again.

In addition, the problem that occurs on your machine shows up on CPUs that support "Data Execution Protection (DEP)" and Vista has it turned on for all programs, as it is an important security feature.

We would request you to please go to Control Panel, System-> Advanced and change e to be for "Microsoft essential programs only". This crash only happens when DEP is set to "Turn on DEP for all programs and services". Switch DEP to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" and try to launch Workspace Macro Pro again and see if this helps.

Also, try disabling the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) for Workspace Macro.
1) Open the Windows Vista control panel, then the "System and Maintenance" item.
2) Open the "System" item there, then the "Advanced System Settings" on the left side.
3) On the Advanced tab, click the Settings button in the Performance area.
4) Finally, on the Data Execution Prevention, add Workspace Macro to the list of exceptions.

Please let us know how it goes.

Default Fix is UAC, but...

Thank you for your speedy solution. The solution was to turn off "User Account Control." But I must say, I don't know if I like losing this security layer.

Question... Is my choice UAC versus WMP?

Regarding "Data Execution Protection (DEP)"... Default on my PC is already "DEP for essential Windows programs and services only."

Question regarding adding Workspace Macro to the Data Execution Prevention list of exceptions... Where do I find the correct WPM in the list of choices? When I click Add to add to the exception list, I am presented with "Look in System32" where I find "Workspace Macro Pro 6.5.lnk" but when clicking "Open" I get the error "Workspace Macro Pro 6.5.lnk File not found. Check the file name and try again." (I think it wants more than a link.)

Thanks, Rick

Hello Rick,

Please follow below mentioned steps,

. Go to Control Panel (Start->Settings->Control Panel)
. Double click on 'System'.
. Click on 'Advanced System Settings'
. Click on 'Advanced' tab.
. Click the Settings button in the Performance area.
. In Performance Options dialog, click on 'Data Execution Prevention' tab.
. Select option, Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services except those I Select.
. Click on Add button and select Workspace Macro Pro.exe from its installation folder.
Default location is, "C:\Program Files\Workspace Macro Pro 6.5\Workspace Macro Pro.exe"

Hope that helps.
