Default WinXP SP3 Problem?

When I installed Macro Pro on my WinXP SP3 box, I got a warning message that MSCOMCTL.OCX was a newer version than the one in the install file. I opted to keep the current file (recommended), and the install continued normally. However, once starting the application and clicking "Try It", the app displays a small window very briefly, then crashes.

I reinstalled Macro Pro, this time backing up MSCOMCTL.OCX then opting to overwrite it with the version from the installer. Same crash.

I then tried installing on a WinXP SP2 box. No warning message, and the app worked just fine.

Is this possibly an SP3 issue? Any workarounds?

On a side note, I went ahead and purchased a license for Macro Pro based on my evaluation of the regular Macro product (which worked fine, even on the SP3 box). When I then went to install Macro Pro, and had issues, I reverted back to the regular Macro product. I'm getting dinged with messages telling me I'm nearing the end of allowable uses, but I can't use the key from Macro Pro to register the regular product.

So, I'm in a bit of a pickle: I can't use the key I bought because the app won't run, and I can't use the key I bought to downgrade to the version of the app that will run, and I'm running out of allowed uses. Hopefully tech support gets back to me before my time runs out.

As a first-time user, this is rather unsettling. Perhaps the Tethys folks could keep this kind of gotcha from happening to others in the future.
