Default Program will not load

I tried logging a call with Tethys over a week ago but no reply as of yet. I'm a paid user and this is my first request for support, so not the best impression so far considering the support page boosts a reply in two business days.

Anyways, the problem I'm having is that I recently ran a "registry clean" on my PC. Since then WMP will not load. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling etc... but no dice.

The first issue I get is an error message whenever I load my PC (due to WMPHotkeys being in the startup folder) with "Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument". This happens everytime I try to run WMPHotkeys from the startup folder.

Then when I actually try to load WMP, I see the loading box for a couple of seconds in the middle of the screen, then it disappears and nothing else happens. No error message and no loaded program.

Perhaps someone can assist with this?

Hello,

The shortcut for start up of WMPHotkeys.exe is located under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Start-up. You can delete it from Start-up folder. WMPHotkey.exe is responsible for hotkeys to work so it should be running under background processes in task manager. However, it starts when you launch the application, Workspace Macro Pro so you can delete it from Start-up folder.

Could you please tell us, on which OS you have installed the software?

It would help us investigate further.

I'm running Win2000 Pro.

If the hotkeys is already causing an error when trying to launch during startup (Runtime error 5), could this be the cause why WMP isn't loading? (As you mention it is also trying to load hotkeys?

Hello,

Could you please tell us, how do you launch the product i.e. by double clicking the shortcut on desktop or through Start menu?

Using both ways do you get the same error?

Could you please try uninstalling the product completely by removing 'Workspace Macro Pro' folder manually from My Documents folder and installing the latest version of produt from website?

Note: Please take backup of your macros located under My Documents\Workspace Macro Pro\My Macros before uninstalling the product.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your suggestion. I've managed to get it working again, although I'm not exactly sure what fixed it as I ran through a number of things:

(I had already manually removed the folder earlier, so I don't think this would have done anything)

Downloaded latest version (which was the same as the one I already had, so there is a possibility that the file I had was somehow corrupted).

Before installing, I went through the registry and searched for references to 'workspace' - I found a couple relating to WMP which had been left behind from the uninstall and deleted them manually. Then ran another regitsry clean.

After installing the file from this, it has now started working again.

I suspect it was related to corrupted references in the registry (after the initital reg clean), and uninstalling WMP did not remove all the associcated references.

Why do software developers always insist on leaving files/references behind when uninstalling? ...well that's another discussion.

Anyways... thanks for your input! It's working again!
