Default Running scheduled macros from virtual server

Recently, we moved the server running the scheduled macro jobs from a local server to a virtual server and now the jobs hang and fail.

Has anyone had experience running scheduled macros in a virtual space?

When I am logged into the virtual desktop, the scheduled jobs work as required with no errors. When I disconnect from the virtual machine, with the connection still active the same scheduled jobs fail.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ben

Hello Ben,

When you close the window of Virtual Desktop from main system, it will actually log out. The macro will fail at keystroke or mouse click command because it will require complete controls to carry out this commands and logged out system does not allow this controls.

We recommend you to not close or logout from your Virtual Desktops window to avoid scheduled macros failure.

Default Clarification for locked workstations

Need some clarification on your last post--

So I have a workstation (VMWare, but should not be relevant) that is "locked". E.g. I've remoted in through Remote Desktop, have the Macro software running, and then "lock" it. I scheduled my task to run and it failed indicating the specified program windows could not be found.

So does this work in a locked workstation? If not, how could this possibly be useful (I mean, I would have to have the screen sitting there logged in all of the time).

Thanks.

Dave

Hello Dave,

Please let us know how you get connect to Virtual System.
In case you are using RDP (Remote Desktop connection), it connects to remote system or Virtual System using RDP it gets connected based on sessions and while we close the RDP it ends the session. This distorts the Keyboard and Mouse click controls and finally results into error.

We recommend you to try getting connected to Virtual System using VNC tool and see how it goes. VNC does not create such issue. Please find the link to download VNC below:
RealVNC - Download VNC® software
