Default AA is not opening Excel Personal Macro Workbook

Normally when opening an Excel file manually, Excel automatically opens the Excel Macro Workbook (PMW) which contains Macros recorded to work in any workbook.

In AA, when using the 'open Excel spreadsheet' command the PMW does not open. I'm using Excel 2007. When I open the file manually the PMW loads, when I open the exact same file through AA the PMW does not load.

This is limiting because I'm creating workbooks automatically through AA and I want to run macros on these workbooks already created in the PMW.

Please let me know how to resolve this.

Hello,

Excel:Open Spreadsheet command can open following formats of excel, xls, xlsx, xlsm, xlsb and csv.

For PMW what you can do is, open the PMW file using 'Open Program/File' command and run the macro using hotkey. You can assign hotkey to excel macro from Tools->Macro->Macros, select your macro and click on 'Options' button to assign a hotkey. You can use Insert Keystrokes command to run this hotkey.

Hope that helps.

Please explain:

You're suggesting to open both the PMW and the Excel File which I'm using for the task?

Hello,

Personal Macro Workbook (PMW) is a hidden workbook that opens when Excel is opened but is not visible. It is standard Excel functionality. You can use 'Open Program/File' command to open PMW file. PMW file contains all the macros and macros will run on any sheet that you have open but macros will only run from open workbooks.

Hope that helps.

Its not working.

Even if I open the PMW file first and then open the Excel file, the macros are still not available in the spreadsheet I open. Hotkeys don't work either.
