.......................... I had specifically put an asterisk at the end of the window name when clicking RECORD. But, when AA saved the command it put in the full window name without the asterisk. Things like this - where the compiler or editor make changes without any notification or warning DRIVE ME NUTs. I even clicked on the RUN with similar windows box - and AA still moved the window. Why DOES it EVER move the window? Why DOES the editor CHANGE the window name and remove the *?? Last edited by philkryder; 10-25-2011 at 08:53 PM. |

Hello Phil, Can you advise which Record feature were you trying to use. If it was 'Manage Window Controls', then the first time when you record the actions, the window title will be recorded as the original window name. You can however, change the window title after the recording by using the 'Replace All' feature which will replace all the corresponding window titles and make them appear the way you want them to. Regards. |

It was manage window controls. But, WHY do you have an editor CHANGE the value that I put into the command BEFORE recording?? And, If you do change it, why not have a pop-up say something like: Your window request "CCSAS-CSE*" HAS BEEN CHANGED TO the full name of "CCSAS-CSE - CaseOverview..." At least WARN us when you change things. But the REAL BIG QUESTION REMAINS: WHY to you continue to MOVE the windows????? I didn't have any MOUSE moves, so the WINDOW location was IRRELEVANT. Even if I had had MOUSE MOVES - the DEFAULT SHOULD BE to locate them RELATIVE to the WINDOW not the SCREEN. Hence, again, no window moving would be needed. please, please, AVOID moving the window. |

I have been using TA for a week now and I am starting to see significant issues on very basic actions. I saw this same issue using Smart Recorder in play mode “Object mode”. The window is moved to the original location when the test is first run….. very strange.... If the window is moved manually at any time after the test is started any actions on the window will fail. If true windows objects were used it wouldn’t matter where the window was, or if the controls /buttons etc within the window were moved, they would still be forund. Sad to say TA seems to be using only mouse coordinates behind the scenes |
