Default Click link that changes its location

Hello,

I'm evaluating AA502 Trial on Windows XP Pro with IE7 installed.

To get the hang of the product i'd like to set up a task similar to the example given in Example.jpg.
As far as one-off recording goes, it works as expected, but i would like to parametrize the job to work with random urls as required by some business logic.

Specifically, as depicted in WebRecorder.jpg, in place of the Launch url "http://kimzsite.com/" i would need to insert a variable such as $TableColumn(1)$.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks for your support,
Paco

Hello Paco,

If layout of webpage is same then Web recorder will take care of changing parameters in a URL. You just have to record the task once, if you want to run the same task with different parameters then make use of variables in place of a fixed value (in Name field) and run the task. Web Recorder will take care of dynamic URL.

Can you please upload task that you have created so far and tell us more about the task you want to automate so that we can amend the task as per your requirement?

You can locate your task by selecting your task from Task List, right clicking that particular task and selecting 'Locate on disk' from context menu.

It would help us investigate further.
