hi, while using the PING command I notice that the specific IP address must be used, is this by design? I get a positive result when I ping 10.65.10.5, but a negative result when pinging the same computer using the computer name CORPPAQ9518B. We would like to be able to use the computer name since the IP address could change over time but the computername will remain the same. Or, could the $Machine$ system variable be resolved to an IP somehow? Can you suggest a way to do this? Thanks, Tom Last edited by tburk; 12-05-2008 at 10:25 AM. Reason: add a suggestion |

Hello, With current architecture of Automation Anywhere, only IP Address can be specified in PING command. However, you can create a task that would get the current IP Address of machine into a variable and then use that variable in PING command. In that way the task can be run on any machine without concerning IP Address change. For your convenience, we have created a task. Please copy attached task under location, 'C:\...\My Documents\Automation Anywhere\Automation Anywhere\My Tasks' folder and run it. Hope that helps. |
