Web recording and documentation issues

New to AA and strugling a bit. Can't find any decent docs, the pdf manual seems full of holes - am I looking in the wrong place?

I'm trying to automate some web downloads. The web page has a text box at the top of the page that changes size and shifts the items below it accordingly - hence every time I loop I get errors because xy coordinates of controls change.

When I try using web recorder I also get unpredictable results. When I do a selection on a combo box on the web page maually then this also forces a requery on the page. When I do this by recorded automation in web recorder the requery does not happen, even if I insert a delay... (It does work if I use ordinary record but the xy position of the control changes when I loop).

Any help/advice/ideas?

Yes I've seen that manual and the demo files. Is there any detailed info anywhere? For example some commands ask for a URL. AA seems to use window namesin place of these which I don't understand. For example if I record a task that selects a drop down on a web form the window seems to change each time from say Window1:, Window2:, etc What's going on? How do I get hold of the name of a Window of a web page? If I record a web macro how do I edit it/insert new commands. Inserting a web command in the editor does not seem to work?

Back to my original problems though. Sorry but the web site I'm using is a secured one. It's running ASP/Microsoft Reporting Services if that makes sense to you? Problem remains though ie when I run a 'Web Recorder' recorded macro and change the value of a control then when I do it manually the web page re-queries but when I do it using AA the re-query does not happen.

I will try and find a public facing example.

Hello,

Web Recorder records actual window titles but if while recording any dialog box comes up then it would record the window title of dialog boxes as Window1, Window2, etc. Using Task Editor you can replace those commands with keystrokes command having exact Window title.

You can edit a command in Task editor by double clicking on it. After making changes do save the command. You can also insert new commands in a recorded task. For e.g. to select an item from drop down, you just have to double click on Web Reorder command, select 'Manage Web Controls' option, enter URL of website, click on Launch button and then using Capture button capture required item from drop down. Save the command, save the task and run it.
