Default Vista Excel 2007 cannot find default session

Hi There,

I'm having a number of issues with AA and allthough it says its Vista Compatible I have lots of problems with it crashing and taking up to a few minutes to start a macro run from with excel.

But at the moment I cannot even get data from excel. I don't know what session name to give it so i can read the data.

I get the error "cannot find any open spreadsheet command using session name "default"

I also noted that when I ask AA to open excel if I try to specify a sheet it cannot ever find a sheet either.

Please help.

Stich

Hello Stich,

Would it be possible for you to upload the atmn file so that we can see what you are trying to do and suggest what could be wrong?

Hi,

the session name is case sensitive. I saw that you opened the excel file with Default session and in other commands, you provided default as the session name. If you specify Default then it should work.

Please let us know how it goes.

This fixed that issue. Thanks so much. I'll keep you posted if I have other issues.

Thanks again

Just to add to this in case anyones has a similar issue. I'm running Vista and Office 07 and AA was having another issue with the session name even though they were all the same. The problem was not the session name but the fact that I was opening it form a mapped drive. When I set the path to \\servername\file.xls the error went away.

Hello Stich,

We tried to reproduce the scenario at our end but could not reproduce. Can you please send us screenshot of error that you receive when you use mapped drive to open a spreadsheet?

Is it possible that the mapping of the mapped drive has changed and it points to different location or if machine /server is not available through mapped drive due to network disconnect?

However, it is a good practice to use server/machine name in path instead of mapped drive to eliminate the possibility of alteration in mapped drive.
