Default 1st run in with IE & image clicks don't work?

Hi,

Ok today Im trying to use web recorder for the 1st time.
I record a macro which opens a website, clicks a link to a 2nd page then clicks a download link image on the 2nd page.
When I playback the macro, it correctly navigates to page 2 but then doesn't seem to click the correct image and the download isn't initiated.

In the HTML page the image is defined...
<td><a href="loadfile.asp?catid=80&rootid=43&ID=340" target="_new"><img src="../../ISV/images/Buttons/viewfile.gif" border=0></a><br><br></td>
In the Macro the instruction is...
Click on 'http://www.websitexxx.com/loadfile.asp?catid=80&rootid=43&ID=340' image in the webpage 'Title'

But the web page seems to flicker and nothing happens when it executes this step.

I would like the macro to click the image rather than specifying the full url in the macro because the id values may change. Whilst the image link will always be updated to the correct file id. Is it possible to say in the Macro click on image viewfile.gif ?

Can anyone help please ?

Thank you :-)

Hello,

Web Recorder understands all web controls. If websites change and web controls move, Automation Anywhere will find the correct controls and the task will continue to work. So, even if the URL change the web recorder will still be able to recognize that image and can click on it.

However, could you please tell us, does this happens every time you run the task? Could you please try this? Open your task in a task editor, double click on command that clicks on 'viewfile.gif' image and recapture that image. Save the command, save the task and try again. It should work.

Hope that helps. If not, then please send us URL of website so that we can try to recreate the scenario at our end and can help you with a viable solution.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I can't provide the url since the website is password protected and contains sensitive information.

What I can tell you however is that the target address is an asp page, this asp seems to close the original browser window and then immediately open up a new one which is why I mentioned an apparent flicker above.
When I do it myself the page gives me a save file dialog box, when I playback the macro I don't get the save file dialog box.

Does that give you any better information to go with ?

Many Thanks for your consideration.

Hello,

Pop-up blocker may be preventing the opening of save file dialog box. You can turn off the pop-up blocker through Tools->Pop-up blocker or in Pop-up blocker settings add particular website to allow pop-ups.

Hope that helps. If not, then please email us your phone number at http://www.tethyssolutions.com/support_form.htm so that one of our Technical Support staffs can call you to help you resolve the problem.

Alternatively, you can reach us at 1-888-484-3535 x 3
