Angry Problem inserting keystrokes

When trying to insert keystrokes into a new script (or an existing one) via the Task Editor, I'm receiving the following error:

Error: Access violation at 0x00000000 (tried to read from 0x00000000), program terminated.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello,

Could you please tell us, do you get this error every time or just once?

Could you please send us the task so that we can try to recreate the scenario at our end?

Access Violation error is possible if you are not running as administrator or not given any write privileges so please login to windows with administrator privileges.

Hope that helps.

I get this error every time I try to insert a keystroke. I can recreate the problem simply by creating a brand new script and then trying to insert a keystroke in the first line. I'm thinking something is wrong with my install.

Hello,

This is very strange, as we have never heard about such type of problem before. However, let us investigate. Could you please try to install Windows Script Host and/or the Visual Basic run time system files on your machine?

Please find below the links to install them

1. Visual Basic Run-time
Download details: Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0: Run-Time Redistribution Pack (vbrun60sp6.exe)

2. Windows Script Host
Download details: Windows Script 5.6 for Windows XP and Windows 2000

You might be required to reboot your machine after you install the above mentioned files. As you finish doing this, try to reinstall the application Automation Anywhere and see if you can use it without any problem or not.

Hope that helps. If not then try uninstalling the product completely and then install the product again. I would recommend you to download the latest version of the software from our website http://www.tethyssolutions.com/automation-software.htm

I installed the runtimes from your first link and rebooted. The problem still existed.

I then reinstalled AA over the top of my existing install. The problem remained.

I then uninstalled AA, installed the Windows Script Host from your second link and rebooted. I then did a fresh install AA. The problem is still there.

When I started this thread about a week ago, this was an irritation that I thought would be quickly worked through and fixed. This is now officially a full blown problem that is keeping me from doing necessary work. Do you have any more suggestions?
