Angry Window Names

It would be nice if all commands that need you to "Select a Window" would let you use a Variable in place of the Name. It seems that every version of Internet Explorer changes the Window Name, If keyboard and Mouse commands worked like the "IF" command as in "If Window Exist", letting you use a VARIABLE for the Selected Window. You could save the window name at the start of the script, then just use the VARIABLE throught out the script.

Hello,

You can make use of wild card at the beginning or end or both sides of window title for e.g. use *internet* for any version of Internet Explorer.

Hope that helps.

I having the same issue. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not.
BTW, I love the ease use that AA offers. There is a learning curve (for my aging arse) but as I unravel piece at a time it's really a gas to use.

For instance:
I have 2 lcd panels on XP machine. They are (Configured independently from each other).

I am trying to automate open incidents from a main screen which is titled
"My InBox (AB) - Name - Software ABC"

now I need to fill inbox twice which I can do no problem after locating, activating and then maximizing this main window. The name of the Main window never changes.

My inbox now has two incidents in it. When I click to open each of the incidents I need one to maximize on the right side and the other incident to maximize to the left window.

The problem for me is that the names of these windows are as follows:
"100523-000094 - Name - Software ABC"
The difference between Main window and these windows is the Incident Number and Date of the incident.

In this case where should the wild card(s) be placed?
Also, how can I move or direct which window gets maximized to which LCD panel??

Thank You for any suggestions.

Hello,

When you click to open each of the incidents, the resulting window would be the active window so could you please try using 'Currently Active Window' with maximise window command?

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your response, much appreciated. I am going to experiment some more now. IF WE could use SPRY that would be so helpful for advanced users etc, IMO.
Great product regardless though.
