this
WebUpdateSvc.exe
seems to start whenever I start AA.

What is it?

Hello Phil,

It checks for the latest update or version (free one only) available on website. By default, check for update automatically is enabled. You can opt for manual checking from Help->Check for Updates and select option, I will check for updates manually.
