Default what is WPA in v6

just now I had a weird situation.

I clicked on an ATMN to and then clicked CREATE EXE.

the screen flashed, but nothing happend.

I "noticed" as often happens there were about 8 copies of WPA running in task manager.

I killed them all .

then, I was able to create an exe.

what's up with that???

Hello Phil,

When web recorder task starts, WPA.exe starts running, this is internally required by Web Recorder tool. Also, when the task ends WPA.exe also ends automatically. As per your problem description it seems due to some reason wpa.exe is not aborting. We need to look into the task to find the cause so can you please upload the task in question. We pack wpa.exe while creating exe of task and as the WPA is running in task manager it is in read only mode and hence cannot be accessed.

no task was running or editing at the time.

how can I know which one caused the WPA?

ALSO,
is there any negative effect of having run 5.5.2 exes on a machine with v6 editor installed?

Hello,

Any task that includes Web Recorder command requires WPA. Possibly, you ran such task that did not abort WPA hence the issue.

No there is no such negative effect of 552 exe running on machine that has AA60 installed.

If you still face the similar issue then please send us the task that is not aborting WPA so we can have a look and provide feasible solution.

I believe the scenario is that a tasks was running and "stopped" when it could not find a control on a web page.

this happens frequently during my testing
even though,
the page with the control is visible on one of the screens on my machine.

Hello Phil,

Okay. Is it possible for you to provide URL of webpage and point us to that specific control so we can try reproducing the scenario at our end?

It would help us investigate further.

take a look at the single line ATMN that I posted that opens a URL and tries to set XXXXX into the login name.

it just stalls.
then when I "kill it" I believe that there may be WPAs left -
but
the question is "why does it stall rather than setting the XXXX text and finishing?

Phil
