Exclamation Save As Dialog in Excel

I have an automation that is extracting data from a Database, performing some actions on it, and writing it to an excel file...All of that works flawlessly.

Where it gets stuck is at the Excel, Save As DialogBox. When I run this automation in the night (with a Scheduled Timer), it crashes. If I run this when I'm logged onto the PC, or via Remote Desktop, there is not problem, it runs fine. It doesn't throw any error messages, so I don't have a way of determining what's going on. I can't view the problem with "snap points" either because of what I described above.

Any direction would be very helpful.

Hello,

Can you send us screenshot of error that you receive so that we can actually see and help you resolve it?

Also, is it possible for you to upload your task as well so we can look into it and suggest viable solution?

It would help us investigate further.

AA doesn't display any error message... it simply stops at line 26, where it's trying to write the file path and name to the save as dialog box.

I've attached the stripped down version of the automation with some of the business critical elements removed (database connections)... and they weren't causing any problems.

Hello,

Automation Anywhere supports Auto login feature. If you use Auto Login, when any task runs, Automation Anywhere will check if the computer is locked or logged off. If it is then it will unlock the computer or login using the username and password you have provided and start executing your task. Once the task completes successfully, it will restore the previous state of the computer.

To enable the 'Auto-Login' feature, go to Tools->Options->Auto Login Settings. Check the checkbox which says: ‘Unlock your computer when scheduled task runs’ and provide the same username and password which you use to logon your computer. Click on apply and ok, that’s all. You can also set 'Auto-Login' option when you schedule your task. Once you set the Auto Login option, it applies to all your tasks.

Hope that helps.

I have had auto login enable with the proper username and password. The task run partially, so I'm not sure what the AutoLogin feature has to do with it stopping at a certain point... Can you please clarify?

Hello,

There are 3 cases when Automation Anywhere can abort the task and returns the computer to its previous state,

• Anyone hits an Escape key or task includes Esc Keystroke
• Anyone hits a pause key or task includes Pause command
• Any error occurs during the execution of the task

Can you please tell us the state of computer before task starts executing i.e. if it is locked or logged off?

Also, can you please watch running the task using schedule and auto login and let us know how it actually goes. You need to ensure if auto login works successfully and then exactly at what point it aborts the task or gives any error. Does it hangs the machine or returns to the previous state?

It would help us investigate further.

Here are my findings from the investigation.

- When the task runs after the computer is locked, it crashes while trying to write the file name to the Save As Dialog Box.
- If the task runs when I have logged off the computer, or after a reboot, the task runs flawlessly without any problems.

Same thing happens when I schedule it and watch it run. If the computer is locked, the task stops. If the computer has been restarted or it logged off, it works fine.

Your thoughts
