Extracting data from a pop up

I'm having trouble getting data from a pop up window.

In my task I open one browser window then click on something that opens a pop up... then I want to get data from the pop up, but I can't. I am trying to use the extract data command but it won't pull from the pop up, it always wants to look at the original browser window I opened up... even though I have specific the URL of the pop-up in the extract data command.

I've attached a simple demo of the problem to this message.

Hello,

While recording the task, you need to wait until the pop-up page is fully loaded and then extract the data using Extract Data button.

We have re-recorded the sample task using same webpage and it does extract the data from pop-up window.

Please copy it under location, 'C:\...\My Documents\Automation Anywhere\Automation Anywhere\My Tasks' folder and run it.

Thank you, it works when I re-record.

I've noticed that having everything set to the same as your task doesn't give the same result... unless it was recorded the same way yours was. Is there any way to see what the actual difference is in the two tasks? If anyone opened and looked at our two tasks in the above posts, they look pretty much identical... but for some reason yours waits for the new page to load and then pulls data from it... but there is no setting that tells it to do that... it was set at the time of recording but those options are not visible (that I can see). How can we access those settings?

While recording if webpage is not loaded fully the dynamic properties for a web control (for e.g. Collection Index) is not assigned or generated. Hence, the specific web control will not be identified while replay.

"Collection Index"... that sounds like it might be the kind of option I was referring to.

How can I see the collection index for a web control? Where is that setting stored? I'd like to compare the collection index in your task to the one in my task so I can actually see how the two tasks are different instead of having to run them to discover that they are different.

Oh, ok, that's not what I thought it was.

In our two tasks above, how can we determine which one is setup correctly by looking at the task without running it?

Is there a setting that can be changed in my task to make it work? Or would it be required to re-record it? If it needs to be re-recorded, where is the setting that would be changed when it is re-recorded? How can I access that setting manually to change it without re-recording it?

Does that make sense... do you understand what I'm looking for?
